The BoogieMen will be playing at the Charlotte Harbor Event Center at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, to raise money for an adaptive playground for special needs children at Charlotte Harbor centers. The event, “Playin’ for the Playground,” will feature live entertainment and a silent auction that includes a red, white and blue guitar autographed by Bruce Springsteen.
Mike Riley, the band’s leader, donated the guitar for auction from his private collection. “If I can’t give up something that is precious to me,” Mr. Riley said, “how can I expect anyone else to give?”
Other silent auction items include a one-week stay at St. Pete Beach, a week’s stay on Hide-A-Way Bay, a onegame suite at Charlotte Stone Crabs and a two-night stay at Fishermen’s Village. Tickets are $20 each or $250 for a table of 10, and will be available Nov. 13 at Calusa National Bank locations in Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda, Punta Gorda Chamber of Commerce, Charlotte County Chamber offices, Tiki’s Clothing and Laishley Crab House.
