Association of Fundraising Professionals establishes Charlotte Harbor Chapter
The formation of a Charlotte Harbor chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals was approved at the group’s international conference in Baltimore on April 11.
The AFP is the largest association of fundraising professionals in the world, celebrating its 50th anniversary with more than 206 chapters in 38 countries and more than 30,000 members. AFP provides its members with education and training in all aspects of fundraising, donor relations, board development and marketing. The association has also created an excellent mentoring program to assist new fundraisers. Through collaboration with other organizations, AFP created a donor bill of rights, fundraisers code of ethics and the internationally recognized CFRE Professional Certification, provide the Charlotte County nonprofit community tools to grow.
Twenty-eight fundraising professionals became charter members. Officers are: Gregory C. Bobonich (CEO, Charlotte Community Foundation), president; Cecy Glenn (CEO, United Way of Charlotte County), presidentelect; Ed Davis (manager of marketing and nonprofit metwork at the Charlotte Community Foundation), vice president of programming; Mike Mansfield (executive director, Habitat for Humanity of Charlotte County), vicepresident of membership; Suzanne Roberts (executive director, Virginia B. Andes Volunteer Healthcare), treasurer and Megarie van Sickel (executive director, American Red Cross of Charlotte County), secretary.
