Celebrating art: Students’ fine photography earns accolades


Celebrating Our Community first place - Kate by Tim DeGilio Celebrating Our Community first place - Kate by Tim DeGilio Port Charlotte High School artists Tim DeGilio and Autumn Hutton were recently notified that their photos were selected in the finalist group of Photographer’s Forum magazine’s 32nd annual College and High School Photography Contest. More than 18,000 photographs were entered from the U.S., Canada and around the world.

Mr. DeGilio and Ms. Hutton were also winners in the 13-18 age group in the Charlotte County Celebrating Our Community photo contest. Mr. DeGilio won first place and Ms. Hutton was awarded honorable mention.

Ms. Hutton’s entry to Sarasota’s Embracing Our Differences Art Contest was accepted as one of 45 artworks out of the 2,300 entries submitted from around the world. The artwork will be created billboard sized and exhibited during the months of March and April along Sarasota’s bay front. To learn more about the exhibit, visit www.embracingourdifferences.org.
